Yes, we are hosting a 10K race!
In honor of Shyndigz' 10 year anniversary in RVA, we present the "Shyndigz 10K Run For Cake" race. During our 10 years here in the RVA we've learned two things: Richmond LOVES Road Races and Shyndigz! So what better way to show our appreciation to our customers and this amazing city? Runners and walkers alike, if you love Shyndigz, RVA, and being a part of this active community you will want to be here! So get your Sweet feet registered. You don't want to miss this event!
This race will start and finish in front of Shyndigz on Cary St., Sunday, October 25th, 2020 @ 7:30am. Net proceeds will be donated to several of our favorite charities: No Kid Hungry VA, More Than Nets and The Eastern Shore Project.
*There will be a 2 hour course time limit and the course is subject to change.
"The Mini Biscuit" Free Kids Mile Fun Run starts at 7am!
A little about our favorite charities...
More Than Nets, a project focused in northern Ghana, provides those living in remote villages with chemically treated mosquito nets for the prevention of malaria.
As of January 1, 2020, More Than Nets has distributed 100,000 nets, therefore protecting nearly 200,000 Ghanaian people from the threat of malaria.
Over the past 5 years, More Than Nets has discovered, through researching the records of area clinics, that the malaria rate has dropped as much as 43% in the villages that have received nets.
These are truly life saving nets especially for vulnerable women, elderly, and children.
The Eastern Shore Project is a community wide effort to meet a variety of needs for those living in Northampton County. Northampton County is consistently one of the most impoverished counties in the Commonwealth.
In February a group of nearly 100 individuals representing community action groups, government, law enforcement, religious groups, non-profit aid organizations, and concerned citizens gathered to join their voices and make a difference.
Six areas of concern were identified and strategies are being developed to meet needs in: education, employment, recreation, housing, spiritual life, and healthcare.
Current plans for 2020 include support for teachers and students in the elementary school, educational summer camps, a new YMCA, a home repair focus, and training opportunities.
No Kid Hungry VA strives to provide access to meals and nutritional education to children living in "food insecure" homes. No child should grow up hungry in America, but 1 in 7 children will face hunger this year.
Our goal is to partner with No Kid Hungry and help to ensure children in RVA have 3 meals a day in and out of school.
With just a $10 donation, No Kid Hungry can feed a child up to 100 meals! We aren't charging a fee for "The Mini Biscuit" Kids Run but instead we ask you to help us reach our goal by making a donation to No Kids Hungry! This is not required but we would greatly appreciate your support in helping to erase childhood hunger.
